The ITx Rutherford 2019 Programme may change without notice
This year the suite of qualifications that in 2015 replaced all Computing/ICT quals at levels 1-6 on the NZ Qualifications Framework are undergoing a scheduled review.
As well as a good refresh across the suite, a number of substantial structural changes are being considered.
Paul Matthews (ITP CEO), Aaron Steele (CITRENZ Chair) and Mary-Claire Proctor (CITRENZ Deputy Chair) are members of the Steering Group overseeing the review and will provide an update on progress, plus the opportunity to ask any questions about the process or qualifications.
Chief Executive, IT Professionals NZ
Paul Matthews is Chief executive of IT Professionals New Zealand, a role he has held for the past 11 years. He is a well networked leader, technologist, commentator within the tech sector.
At ITP, Paul leads the team that has transformed the organisation and delivered on a comprehensive programme of projects to improve the delivery of tech in NZ. His team also introduced professional certification to New Zealand (Chartered IT Professional NZ and CTech), accreditation of IT tertiary degrees, the ITx conference and much more.
Prior to this role Paul founded two technology-related companies including establishing and building the largest locally-owned IT company in Dunedin. Paul was originally MD and lead developer before expanding the company with teams focusing on both bespoke software and infrastructure.
He has a technology, management and entrepreneurial business background, supported by a BSc in Computer Science (Otago) and Executive MBA (Auckland).
Head of IT and Business, Weltec and Whitireia
Mary-Claire Proctor is the Head of School of IT and Business at WelTec and Whitireia. She has twenty years’ experience in the tertiary education sector, most recently as Head of Department of Arts, Media and Digital Technology at NMIT.
Mary-Claire has an excellent track record for leading and promoting Information Technology. She is the Immediate Past Chair of Computing and Information Technology Research and Education New Zealand (CITRENZ), part of IT Professionals New Zealand, and the national representative body for IT delivery by Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics (ITPs).
