Look What's Coming to a GP Near You

Thursday 11:00am - 11:30am, ITPNZ (Cybersec Room 4)

The bulk of healthcare in NZ is delivered via primary care services - ie General Practitioners and Nurses working out of General Practices.

Research has shown that the current General Practice model is no longer sustainable due to factors such as an increasing population, an aging population with complex health needs and the expected retirement of nearly 50% of current GPs within the next 10 years. There are process and technology issues which need to be addressed, for example over 80% of GPs use patient management software originally designed in the mid-1990s.

Gordon Munro will delve into the current use of technology in general practice and how better use of existing technology, as well as the introduction of new technologies and processes, could help revolutionise healthcare delivery in the community and return it to a sustainable service.
